In 2011, Dr. Kavita Shah Patel opened her outpatient practice in the medical center to begin her dream of providing comprehensive, evidence-based, compassionate care to all individuals, accepting all insurances and working with uninsured individuals. Since that time, she has expanded her practice to Katy and incorporated numerous services to better serve her patients. Dr. Shah Patel completed her undergraduate training at The University of Texas at Austin and graduated summa cum laude. She completed medical school and Internal Medicine training at Baylor College of Medicine, and her chief residency in 1998. Over the past 20 plus years she has cared for critically ill patients in the acute care setting as a hospitalist at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, and in the emergency room setting at The Veteran's Affairs Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her passion is preventative medicine, patient education, and the management of acute and chronic illnesses in the ambulatory setting; her focus now is on her clinics in the medical center and Katy.  Dr. Shah stays active and up-to-date on the latest advancements in medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, and staying active with her children and her husband, Rupal Patel, an interventional nephrologist. She is fortunate to have a large extended family all located in Houston!​
